IP65 LED flood light waterproof test

You have see some LED light indicates Protection Grade: IP65. But what is IP65, you my asking what does it means?

The IP code, international protestion marking, IEC standard 60529, sometimes interpreted as Ingress Protection Marking.

Behind the IP of 1st number stand for level of protection against solid object, and 2nd number is show level of protection against liquids

1. For the solide object:

 

E.G. IP65, we can see from above chart, number-6 is

         Protection against dust-- no ingress of dust; complete protection against contact.

2. For the liquid project:

 

Protction against liquid: 5

Protection against low pressure water jets-- Water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. (More detail about IP Code, could refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code)

 

If you see the LED lights indicates protection grade IP65, that mean you can use in a heavy dusty and wet environment such as swimming center lighting. Also our use as outdoor lighting, such as billboard lighting.
